Current Obsessions – March 11, 2020

Posted on March 11, 2020March 11, 2020

There’s plenty of cool new things to obsess about these days, here are a few of my current favorites across several categories.

Favorite D2C: Sézane

Many darlings of the D2C category are facing hard times right now, but that doesn’t mean they don’t still have cult followings despite their short comings.

Sézane, a French brand that launched online first, is a particular favorite. Although they have physical stores across Europe and also a flagship in New York, they are >90% in online sales. What makes me obsessed isn’t just their amazing selection of beautiful clothing or their gorgeous storefront (see below), but it’s their packaging.

Favorite app: Streaks

I have the hardest time holding myself to goals that I’ve made myself – especially repeatable ones. For anyone who has read The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin (highly recommended), I’m an Obliger. If you ask me to do something, I will follow through. If I set my own goals (ex: a New Year’s resolution) I will inevitably fail.

Streaks makes the mundane repeatable tasks or goals you really want to accomplish a bit competitive – with yourself. A few things that I’ve added to the list: 5 minutes of meditation daily, daily flossing (I know, gross, but it’s time consuming!), reading 15 minutes a day, and working out 45min each for 3x a week.

The app is $4.99, but if it can help me build good habits, $5 is worth every penny.

Favorite NYC coffee shop: Daily Provisions

Sitting in the UWS location right now. Delicious food, great coffee, amazing friendly service. There’s nothing more I could ask for. Ok, maybe cheaper prices (fine, take my credit card). Oh, and get the maple cruller – you won’t regret it.
